Rational AG repeatedly wins in Germany. The award for Austria was won by Mayr-Melnhof Karton AG, and in Switzerland by Ems-Chemie Holding AG.
Hérens Quality Asset Management has been awarding prizes to the best quality companies nationally since 2008 and internationally since 2011. With the Corporate Excellence Award, the asset manager aims to shine a spotlight on companies that manage to demonstrate sustained business excellence despite a sometimes adverse market environment.
In this context, the focus is on generally applicable economic and business management principles – without taking into account the valuation of a company.
The research for the Corporate Excellence winners is provided exclusively by the Research Center in Riga, Latvia. The winning decision will be made by an international jury with a broad academic and practical background.
You can also read more about the history of the Quality Corporate Excellence Awards in an interview conducted in the run-up to the awards with the CEO of Hérens Quality Asset Management, Diego Föllmi.
According to Hérens, some common features have emerged among the winners over the years: In most cases, the business is based on a clearly focused, often family-run business model, and growth is largely organic, without major acquisitions. It is interesting to note that the winners often address corporate responsibility factors at an early stage and are also significantly better off than their peers in this respect.
This year in particular, it was interesting to see, says Diego Föllmi, that the Corporate Excellence Award winners demonstrated an extremely high level of resilience despite COIVD-19-related challenging market conditions.
